Free Fallin'

Westerburg HighTonight we traveled to Lawrence to watch our good friends, Team Westerburg High, in their quarterfinal match on VH-1's World Series of Pop Culture. The fellas had taken over Conroy's Pub with family, friends and well-wishers. So, Twisted Wife and I decided this was the perfect night to keep the kids up past their bedtime... in a crappy bar... watching a trivia show. Okay, so it looks bad when I see it in print. Really, we're not abusive parents, although I'm sure some people were wishing we were.

CAUTION: If you haven't seen the show yet, stop reading!

It was a tense night at Conroy's. We had to wait while two other teams battled for a spot in the semis, all the while the Twisted Kids got more and more rambunctious. Our waitress was trying hard, but with more traffic than Conroy's has seen since... well... ever, she was having a difficult time. She forgot to bring the wee ones water until an hour after we'd asked. Needless to say, this didn't effect her tip (TW is way too generous). By the time the guys got on, the kids were ready to go. Did I mention they were at a bar and couldn't even get served water? I'd be ready to leave too.

During the match there were screams, boos and a lot of cheering. And though they put forth a valiant effort, Andy somewhat redeemed himself taking his match to a tie breaker, Team Westerburg High just didn't have the goods. Yes, they got beat by a bunch of guys in bath robes.

Let that sink in for a moment.

No matter what I say about Eric, Andy or JD, it is amazing to me that they took a few days and went to be on this show. They had to pass rigorous tests and preliminary contests to get their shot, and they did a great job. Not only do I consider them my trivia team and Kansas' trivia team, they are America's trivia team!
