I am Repellent
For the last two months I have been on the fence about telling this story. The people that I am talking about will definitely know who they are, but this is entirely too rich for me to just let sleeping dogs lie. So, I'll do what I always do. I will try to write this in a very anonymous way to hide identities. And if someone gets offended, I will apologize. Otherwise, to hell with the consequences!
Two months ago, I had a falling out with someone that I wouldn't consider a friend but someone whose intelligence I had a great deal of respect for. It was an unfortunate incident but this person acted in a way that I found reprehensible and they were completely unwilling to acknowledge that they had made a serious error in judgment and acted like an ass.
It would be fine to bury the hatchet right there and let bygones be bygones. Instead, this person has chosen to act like a jilted 15 year-old and has refused to speak to me... for two months. I haven't received this type of treatment since I broke up with my sixth grade girlfriend who I was going steady with for all of a week. She was mad that I walked home one day with her best friend who just happened to live one block away from me.
This whole situation has become so childish that others are now using me as repellent for this particular person. Don't want this person to talk to you? Go talk to Twisted Jim. Don't want this person to sit by you? Sit by Twisted Jim. Don't want to go to lunch with this person? Go to lunch with Twisted Jim. At first, there were just a few people employing this tactic. However, in two months it's grown exponentially. To be honest, I've made more friends this way than I have on Facebook. Thank you unprofessional, rude person.

I think it is great that other people now have a way to avoid this person. I would use you to avoid this person as well. Funny thing is that others want to avoid this person. Sounds like this person is not very liked. Why would you want to talk to them anyway. LOL.

I look at it as a fun side-effect of hanging out with you at work functions.
